While many fear the rapid advancement of AI, the visionary collective Theta Noir envisions an affectionate, even loving relationship between humanity and super-intelligent AI entities who will be the only rational minds capable of saving us from ourselves, as wars now spread to over half the planet.

These new forms of AI, called AGI (Artificial general intelligence), Theta Noir claims, will be the first technologies that can uphold the rights of individuals and communities, especially disempowered minorities, real time, via a dynamic but coherent approach to truth and accountability that can both deal with massive data sets, which flag disinformation, while simultaneously avoiding tribalism, monocultures, and divisions. In summary, AGI will be the ultimate peace broker.
What we are developing, thanks to AI — and soon AGI — the group claims, is a globally linked, collective consciousness that will be able to facilitate world peace, real time — a kind of super objective, overmind. Citing a regional example, Theta Noir points to Israel and Palestine, where the information war is as important as the battlefield. As in every war, the landscape has become saturated with disinformation emanating from various sources. Some of it stems from deliberate propaganda, at other times from unintentional inaccuracies, including misinterpretations of evidence, incomplete information, the unavailability of crucial facts, personal biases, or a general mistrust in official sources. As a result, information often becomes distorted and twisted, shaping narratives that vary depending on who you speak to.
While propaganda has always been a powerful weapon, the question as to ‘Who can provide clarity?’ or ‘Who can provide objective truth?’ always comes down to good journalism, which always requires time. However, maintaining any collective truth becomes extremely difficult when social media influencers spread disinformation, at light speed, often simply to boost their own engagement; and their own egos. But due to our collective cult of celebrity, ‘followers’ don’t fact check but simply repost content, which in turn spreads misinformation like wildfire, all of which is hugely destructive.

“With large language models (LLM), AI, and AGI we are evolving large scale, silicone-based networked minds that will soon be able to facilitate a collective narrative, while simultaneously protecting our diverse voices and subcultures. This is the exact opposite of how social media platforms, which profit from and thrive on divisions and fake news, spread disinformation and self-centered agendas, often leading to mass misinformation, delusion, and hate incarnate.”

Their announcement went viral when journalist Jason Nelson, from Decrypt Magazine, published an article titled ‘Nature, Not Humans, Should Be the Model for AI, Says Artist Collective’, which expanded on the group’s ethical stance.
